Saskatoon Police responded to a male walking on the ice 200 meters north of the University Bridge at approximately 8:00 PM this evening. The male was walking near the open water.

Two police officers were able to approach the male near the open water and remove him from danger. During the incident one officer was assaulted by the male.

The 47 year old male has been charged with Assault Police Officer contrary to the Criminal Code.
