A 35 year old man has been charged following an attempted armed robbery which occurred last night.
At approximately 11:10 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2011, police responded to an armed robbery in progress at a confectionery located in the 2100 block of 22nd Street West. At the scene they found that staff had subdued and held the suspect until their arrival. The suspect had entered the store armed with a kitchen knife and demanding money. The clerk, a 25 year old male, struggled with the suspect, disarmed him and chased him out the store. A 35 year old male from a neighbouring business came to the aid of the store clerk and both held the suspect until police arrived.
The 35 year old suspect is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court this morning.
