Subject: Vehicle / Pedestrian Accident - 33rd Street & Ave D

At 5:17 p.m., February 23, 2012 the Saskatoon Police Service was called to the intersection of Ave D and 33rd Street to investigate reports of a car versus pedestrian accident.

Upon arrival, police discovered that two pedestrians had been involved after attempting to cross Ave D. A 29 year old female sustained serious injuries to her lower body and was transported to hospital for further medical treatment. A 21 year old male was also involved, but did not receive any injury as a result of minor contact with the vehicle.

Information and evidence obtained from the scene suggests that a 46 year old male was operating a passenger vehicle while attempting to make a right hand turn onto 33rd street when the accident occurred. Police will continue to investigate the cause of the accident and traffic will be temporarily disrupted until all evidence has been collected.
