Subject: Update-Barracaded Person 1100 Block Avenue W North

UPDATE to Media Release 2012-220

At approximately 12:30 a.m., March 23, 2012 a 24 year old male surrendered to members of the Saskatoon Police Service without incident.

Information was received at approximately 5:40 p.m., March 22, 2012 that a distressed male with a shotgun was in an apartment in the 1100 block of Avenue W North. The male was known by police to have two Criminal Code arrest warrants for Breach of Probation. The Emergency Response Team and Crisis Negotiators were called after attempts to have the suspect surrender to initial responders failed.

The incident lasted almost 7 hours. No one was injured. A sawed off shotgun was recovered inside the apartment.

The suspect will appear in court today on his warrants. The investigation continues which will determine additional charges.
