Released By: S/Sgt. Patrick Nogier #372
Occurrence Number: 12-31316

Subject: Motorcycle Accident - 8th St & Idylwyld Drive

On April 11, 2012 at approximately 7:50 p.m. the Saskatoon Police Service responded to a single vehicle accident involving a motorcycle near the intersection of Lorne Avenue and 8th Street East. Information obtained from the scene suggests that the lone rider of the motorcycle was attempting to exit Idylwyld Drive at the 8th Street entrance when he lost control of the motorcycle and struck a guardrail.

A 19year old male has been transported to hospital with serious injuries. The Saskatoon Police Service will be restricting traffic in the aforementioned area while SPS Collision Investigators attempt to determine the contributing cause(s) of the accident.

Police would like to remind motorcycle enthusiasts that winter weather leaves roads slippery and dangerous during the spring months. Warm weather has enticed a few to navigate their way through the city on motorcycles, scooters, and other similar two wheeled vehicles. Please take caution at intersections and corners until City crews have had an opportunity to clean the streets.
