The Saskatoon Police Service will be joining other Saskatchewan Municipal Police Services as well as the Saskatchewan RCMP for "Operation Overdrive". This province-wide operation is the 6th in a series of traffic safety initiatives sponsored by SGI. This traffic safety blitz will focus on impaired driving and coincides with Canada Road Safety Week from May 14-21, 2012.

Throughout the week law enforcement agencies across the country will aggressively enforce traffic safety laws. Areas focused on will be impaired driving, improper use of seatbelts, aggressive driving and distracted driving.

Traffic Unit officers along with members from Patrol will be out in full force paying particular attention to violations involving these areas of concern. This traffic safety initiative will be conducted over and above the regular enforcement of the Saskatoon Police Service.
