Subject: Update - Sexual Assault - University Of Saskatchewan - Seminary Crescent (rel 381)

The Saskatoon Police Service has arrested a 22-year-old male in connection with a sexual assault that occurred on the University of Saskatchewan campus yesterday afternoon.

At approximately 1:00 p.m. on May 23, 2012, the 26-year-old female victim was on campus when she was approached by a male. He convinced her to attend a nearby parking lot off of Seminary Crescent. When they arrived, the suspect sexually assaulted the female before fleeing on foot. The victim was not physically injured during the assault.

As a result of media coverage and the public's help, Police received information that led to the arrest of a male from the Battlefords area who now faces charges of one count of sexual assault and one count of uttering threats to cause harm and death. He will be seen by the Justice of the Peace tonight and is expected to make a court appearance on Monday.

The Saskatoon Police wish to thank the public and the media for their assistance in finding the suspect.
